Escape Rooms Have Long Relied Heavily on Online Traffic

Escape rooms have long relied heavily on online traffic.

If every venue were forced off Meituan Dianping and Douyin, probably fewer than 5% would survive.

Xiaoying would be among the 95% that disappear.

Rather than saying we "depend on online traffic," it is fairer to say: most players first hear about and encounter escape rooms through online media.

The traffic entry points look largely fixed.

So the next job is to think about how to keep that traffic, nurture it, and turn it into our own private domain.

Most operators today still understand "private domain" as nothing more than pulling people into one or a few WeChat groups.

But that is highly specialized work that needs a professional team to run. It is like venue operations versus franchise sales: the skills, techniques, and resources required are completely different. They are essentially two different businesses.

That makes it easy to see why most "escape room groups" end up as raffle groups, bragging groups, ad groups, or launch groups for other operators.

That already runs against the original goal of building a private domain and growing revenue.

So far, Xiaoying still has no player group of its own, even though several of our WeChat accounts are already maxed out with contacts.

In practice, everyday small campaigns spread well enough through Moments alone.

For early-bird tickets on all our themes, sales open at 12:00 noon each day, 100 tickets a day, for 3–5 days.

Anyone who has watched our campaigns may notice that Xiaoying early-bird tickets are harder to grab than many celebrity concert tickets—usually sold out within 5 seconds, and never more than 10.

Until we are confident we can do something well, perhaps "not starting" is the greatest respect and caution we can show it.
